Fatal House Fire in Chiayi County Claims Homeowner's Life

A devastating house fire broke out early this morning in Liaoding Village, Minxiong Township, Chiayi County, claiming the life of the female homeowner. The blaze, which started around 6 a.m., quickly engulfed the traditional three-section house, making firefighting efforts challenging.

Responding to the emergency, multiple fire units from the Chiayi County Fire Bureau were dispatched to the scene. The husband of the trapped homeowner reported that his wife was still inside the burning structure. Firefighters, equipped with full gear, entered the smoke-filled house to conduct a search. Despite efforts, the woman was found disoriented and unconscious due to smoke inhalation.

She was transported to Dalin Tzu Chi Hospital, where she was pronounced dead after resuscitation attempts failed. Initial observations indicated no significant external burns, leading to the preliminary assessment that smoke inhalation was the likely cause of death, pending a formal investigation by prosecutors and forensic pathologists.

The fire was brought under control by 7:30 a.m. and fully extinguished by 8:19 a.m. Fire investigators are currently examining the scene to determine the exact cause of the blaze. The rapid spread of the fire was attributed to the extensive use of wooden structures within the traditional house design.
