Fatal Motorcycle Collision on Croatia's A1 Highway Claims Hungarian Rider's Life

A tragic accident on Croatia's A1 highway has claimed the life of a motorcyclist, prompting a criminal investigation into the circumstances. The incident occurred on Friday between the Lučko and Donja Zdenčina junctions, involving a group of four Hungarian motorcyclists traveling in a convoy.

According to Zagreb police, a 58-year-old Hungarian national, riding a Suzuki motorcycle, collided with the motorcycle in front of him. The motorcycle he hit was ridden by his 59-year-old friend, also a Hungarian citizen. Both riders were slowing down due to heavy traffic ahead at the time of the collision.

The severity of the incident necessitated the landing of a medical helicopter (HMP) on the highway, leading to a temporary closure of the A1 in the direction of Karlovac. Traffic was diverted to the D1 highway, also known as the "Old Karlovac Road." Police are investigating the possibility that the cause of death may be health-related, and the body has been transported to the Institute of Forensic Medicine and Criminology in Zagreb.
