Father dies, son injured after being hit by car in Van

A tragic accident on the Van-Hakkari highway in Turkey's Gürpınar district claimed the life of a father and left his son injured. The incident occurred around 9 p.m. when a car traveling from Van towards Hakkari struck Musa Tunç and his son Yusuf as they were guiding their sheep across the road.

The impact sent Musa Tunç into a water channel and his son Yusuf to the roadside. Emergency services, including AFAD, UMKE, gendarmerie, and medical teams, were dispatched to the scene following reports from bystanders. Both father and son received initial medical attention before being transported by ambulance to Gürpınar State Hospital.

Despite the efforts of medical staff, Musa Tunç's condition was critical, and he succumbed to his injuries. His son Yusuf was transferred to Van Regional Training and Research Hospital for ongoing treatment. The body of Musa Tunç was taken to the Van Forensic Medicine Institute morgue for an autopsy. The driver of the car has been taken into custody by the gendarmerie, and an investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
