Father Disappears in River While Saving Son in Turkey

A father has gone missing in the Kızılırmak River in Kayseri, Turkey, after entering the water to rescue his son. The incident occurred around 4 p.m. in the Küpeli neighborhood when the 11-year-old son, identified as H.E., entered the river to cool off during a family picnic.

The boy was quickly caught by the strong current. His father, identified as M.E., 40, immediately jumped into the river to save him. The father managed to help his son reach a tree branch, allowing him to hold on and await rescue.

However, the father was swept away by the current and disappeared from sight. Emergency services, including gendarmerie, AFAD, firefighters, UMKE, dive police, health teams, and the Türkuaz Underwater Search and Rescue team, were dispatched to the scene.

Rescuers managed to save the 11-year-old boy, who was clinging to the tree branch. He was handed over to health teams and taken to Özvatan State Hospital for initial treatment. Search operations for the missing father, M.E., began immediately. The search was suspended as darkness fell and is scheduled to resume early the following morning.
