Severe Rainfall Floods Homes, Businesses, and Vehicles in Istanbul's Kağıthane District

Kağıthane, a district in Istanbul, experienced severe flooding on Saturday afternoon following intense downpours that began after warnings from meteorological authorities. The sudden increase in rainfall led to widespread water accumulation on streets and caused significant traffic disruptions.

In the Çağlayan neighborhood, several parked and moving vehicles were submerged as a street became inundated. Residents whose homes were flooded found themselves temporarily trapped, while others were seen wading through waist-deep water. The situation was compounded by overflowing manhole covers, which resulted in numerous homes and businesses being flooded across the district.

Emergency response teams were dispatched to the scene and have begun operations to pump out the water from flooded properties. The heavy rainfall caused intermittent disruptions to traffic throughout the day. The district's infrastructure struggled to cope with the sudden deluge, highlighting vulnerabilities to extreme weather events.
