Father-in-law remanded over property dispute with son's widow

A 63-year-old father-in-law, David Omolola, faces charges of threatening his late son's widow, Tosin Omolola, and attempting to seize her husband's property. The dispute reportedly began just eight days after the son's death.

He has been remanded in police custody pending the perfection of his bail.

Activist Harrison Gwamnishu shared details of the case, including a charge sheet, stating that Tosin was on the verge of losing her late husband's house and car. He highlighted that the property dispute was central to the father-in-law's actions.

Before I was contacted and shared Tosin’s story, she was on the verge of losing her late husband’s house, car, and other properties.

Following public attention and intervention by the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency, the matter is now before the court. Gwamnishu pledged to monitor the case while being mindful of ongoing legal proceedings, emphasizing continued support for Tosin and her two children in their pursuit of justice for widows.
