Father Sentenced to Prison for Threatening to Kill Daughter and Son-in-Law Over Grandson's Absence

A shocking case of domestic violence and threats has resulted in a prison sentence for a Tainan man who, consumed by anger over not seeing his grandson, threatened to murder his own daughter and son-in-law. The man, identified by the surname Lin, was handed a seven-month jail term by the Tainan District Court for preparing to commit murder.

The disturbing events unfolded when Lin, who has a history of domestic violence, called his daughter and son-in-law in the early hours of August 2, 2025. He unleashed a torrent of threats, vowing to kill them and daring them to call the police, stating that "criminal police will guard your house." This terrifying ordeal left the couple in fear for their lives.

Later that morning, Lin escalated his violent intentions by confronting his son-in-law at a residence, armed with a fruit knife. The situation turned physical when the son-in-law attempted to disarm Lin, resulting in both men sustaining injuries from the knife. While Lin's daughter and son-in-law were initially accused of attempted murder, they were ultimately cleared and not indicted. The court, however, found Lin guilty of preparing to commit murder, taking into account his prior domestic violence offenses and lack of remorse.
