Father, teenage daughter die in abandoned Kano well

A father and his 15-year-old daughter tragically lost their lives after falling into an abandoned well in Yancibi Village, Kano State, Nigeria. The Kano State Fire Service confirmed the incident, stating that the Tsanyawa Fire Service Office received a distress call on Monday evening.

Firefighters from the Tsanyawa branch responded but could not complete the rescue due to darkness and difficult conditions. An emergency team from the fire service headquarters was deployed early Tuesday to assist. The rescue team successfully recovered the victims, who were found unconscious and later confirmed dead.

Preliminary findings suggest the teenage girl accidentally fell into the well. Her father then entered the well in an attempt to rescue her but became trapped himself, leading to the death of both. The Fire Service extended condolences to the family and cautioned residents to avoid entering wells without proper safety equipment and trained personnel.
