FBI arrests Ohio man accused of threatening to kill Rep. Randy Fine, his family

An Ohio man has been arrested by the FBI for allegedly making death threats against U.S. Representative Randy Fine and his family. The suspect, identified as 26-year-old Alex Justin Miller of Columbus, Ohio, faces charges of interstate transmission of a threat to injure.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Miller sent an email on August 18, the same day as Fine's primary election, containing what is described as a "true threat." The email allegedly stated, "I cannot wait to take a trip to your lovely home and light the whole place on fire and murder you and your entire family in the middle of the night while you sleep." The message further referred to Fine as a "Nazi" and urged him to "sleep with one eye open."

The email concluded with a direct threat: "DEATH TO RANDY FINE AND DEATH TO DONALD TRUMP!!!" If convicted, Miller could face a maximum penalty of five years in prison. The criminal complaint indicated that Fine and his family were in Florida at the time the threat was made.

Representative Fine, a Republican representing Florida's 6th Congressional District, thanked the U.S. Attorney's Office of Middle Florida, the FBI, Capitol Police, and local law enforcement for Miller's arrest. He emphasized that such threats will not deter him and that there is no place for them in the political system. Fine also noted that three other individuals have previously been prosecuted for making death threats against him.

If they think this will make me afraid, they are wrong. There is no place in our political system for this. And those who make these threats, whether to a Republican or Democrat, will go to prison for a very long time.
