FC Barcelona confirms 'firm offer' for Álvarez, warns Atlético Madrid

FC Barcelona has confirmed a "firm offer" for Atlético Madrid forward Julián Álvarez, though President Joan Laporta warned the bid has a time limit. Laporta stated that Deco submitted a specific offer, acknowledging the player's long-standing desire to join Barcelona even before his time at Manchester City. The club intends to maintain the offer for a period they deem appropriate, without being subject to Atlético Madrid's decisions.

Laporta explained that Atlético Madrid initially responded by stating they had no plans to sell the Argentine attacker, as they lacked a suitable replacement. However, he added that if Atlético finds an alternative and Barcelona remains in a position to uphold their offer, they hope it will be considered. Laporta emphasized Barcelona's current financial capacity for major signings, provided they align with "sporting logic."

Barcelona insists they have not pressured Álvarez to leave his current club, asserting that their offer was made transparently to Atlético Madrid. The Catalan club denies any external pressure on the player and maintains that the offer was extended with full institutional transparency. Consequently, Barcelona finds Atlético Madrid's decision to report the case to FIFA and the Royal Spanish Football Federation unwarranted.

"They are digging in their heels, and we hope they will reconsider. The tweets were anecdotal. But this going to UEFA or FIFA, I don't know what it's about.
