FC Nordsjælland’s New Ivorian Forward Has the Potential to Become a World Star

Safi N'Sira has needed only three professional matches to convince her FC Nordsjælland teammates that a major talent has arrived. The 18-year-old Ivorian forward has already filled the scoresheet with goals and assists, while making the game look almost effortless.

“She delivers fantastic balls, and even though she has only just arrived, we already have a fantastic connection. She makes all her teammates look good and makes it look incredibly easy,” FCN attacker Clara La Cour said. La Cour added that N'Sira appears to be having fun when she races down the wing and sends the ball across.

N'Sira’s route to Denmark began at the Right to Dream academy in Ghana, where she earned a place at 11. FCN sporting director Jessica Davis said the player had been rejected twice before being accepted. N'Sira took the feedback she received as an eight- or nine-year-old seriously, kept training and is now emerging as a superstar, Davis said.

To develop as fully as possible, N'Sira mostly trained with boys. The football world first took notice of her unusual talent when she scored twice at the 2025 Gothia Cup while playing for a boys’ team. FCN had already seen her potential after meeting her during the women’s team’s trip to Ghana when she was 14.

FCN had wanted N'Sira to make her debut earlier, but regulations prevented the club from signing a player from another continent before she turned 18. She signed a three-year contract as soon as she reached that age. Before joining FCN, she scored twice and provided three assists for Ivory Coast at the Africa Cup of Nations, before receiving a red card in the quarterfinals. One week after her FCN debut, she scored after 16 minutes on the field. A week later, she made her first start and produced two goals and three assists in the 9-1 demolition of FC Copenhagen.
