FCSB Suffers Late Defeat to FK Auda in Conference League First Leg

Romanian club FCSB suffered a disappointing 2-3 home defeat against Latvian side FK Auda in the first leg of their Europa Conference League second qualifying round tie.

The match, played at the Steaua Stadium in Bucharest, saw the visitors take the lead early through Eduards Daskevics in the 5th minute. FCSB managed to equalize in the 23rd minute with a goal from Octavian Popescu. However, FK Auda quickly regained the lead in the 32nd minute with a goal from Barthelemy Diedhiou, who capitalized on a defensive lapse.

FCSB fought back in the second half, with Aymen Boutoutaou scoring on his debut in the 71st minute to level the score at 2-2. Despite dominating possession and creating several chances, FCSB could not find a winning goal. In a dramatic turn of events, FK Auda secured a crucial away victory with a last-gasp goal from Kader Kone in the 90+4th minute.

The Romanian team felt they were denied a penalty in the second half for a challenge on Octavian Popescu. The return leg is scheduled to take place in Latvia on July 30. If FCSB overcomes FK Auda, they will face the winner of the match between NK Aluminij of Slovenia and FC Dinamo City of Albania in the third qualifying round.
