FECOFA leadership tours Boende and Mbandaka on first official trip

The new leadership of the Congolese Football Association (FECOFA) has embarked on its inaugural official tour, visiting the towns of Boende and Mbandaka. Véron Mosengo-Omba, accompanied by vice-presidents Amadou Diaby and Dayoni Wawa, stated the trip on Thursday, May 28, was to directly observe the realities of football in this part of the country. The Minister of Parliamentary Relations, Guy Loando Mboyo, who hails from the region, is also part of the delegation.

Mosengo-Omba explained that the tour aligns with a vision to develop football from the grassroots and support youth in all provinces. In Boende, Tshuapa province, the delegation visited the Guy Loando stadium, built with private funds from the WIDAL Foundation. This stadium, featuring a modern synthetic turf, is the province's primary sports facility, capable of hosting provincial championship matches. Local teams received sports equipment, jerseys, and balls.

The tour continued to Mbandaka in the Équateur province, where the delegation met with Governor Bobo Boloko Bolumbu and local sports authorities. FECOFA officials toured the Bakusu stadium, a historic venue in Grande Équateur, currently undergoing rehabilitation with support from the WIDAL Foundation. The delegation was shown the new synthetic pitch, recently installed goalposts, and modernized sanitary facilities. Renovations to the locker rooms and stands are planned for the coming months.

Concluding the tour, Mosengo-Omba emphasized the importance of fostering football across all provinces, reaffirming his commitment to developing the sport at the grassroots level during his tenure as head of FECOFA.
