Felipe Camiroaga’s sister shares unseen childhood photo 15 years after his death

Fifteen years after Felipe Camiroaga died in a plane crash, his sister Paola Bontempi remembered him with a previously unseen photograph from his childhood.

Bontempi shared the image on Instagram alongside an emotional message for the television host, whom she called her “beautiful little brother.” She wrote, “Fifteen years have passed since you left. They say death is a separation, but perhaps those who truly love each other cannot be separated.”

She reflected that love does not exist only in someone’s physical presence and does not end when people can no longer see one another. Camiroaga, she wrote, remains part of her through what she learned from him, the experiences they shared and the warmth she feels when remembering him.

Love does not live only in presence, nor does it end when we stop seeing each other. You are in me, in what I learned from you, in what we lived, in the warmth in my heart when I remember you.

“We have not reached a goodbye. Only a different way of finding each other. I love you very much and miss you every day, my beloved Feli,” she wrote.

Camiroaga was traveling on September 2, 2011, to Juan Fernández Island with a team from TVN’s Buenos Días a Todos program. They were going to help Desafío Levantemos Chile with reconstruction work in the archipelago, which a tsunami had heavily damaged two years earlier. The aircraft could not land and crashed into the sea. Nobody on board survived.
