Female student gives birth to dead baby at home in Taipei; investigation underway

Authorities in Taipei are investigating the death of a newborn baby discovered in the home of a female university student.

The student, identified by the surname Zou, reportedly gave birth to a baby boy at her home in Wenshan District on August 2nd. According to reports, the umbilical cord detached, and the student found the infant had already died. Fearing reprimand from her family, she allegedly wrapped the baby in a towel and concealed the body in a corner of her bedroom, hiding it with clothing.

The discovery was made on the evening of August 8th when the student's family noticed a foul odor emanating from the bedroom. They subsequently took the baby's body to the Wanfang police station to report the incident.

During an examination at the Taipei Huai Ai Hall on the morning of August 9th, investigators estimated the baby to be over nine months old. Preliminary findings indicated no obvious external injuries. The exact cause of death remains unknown, and the body has been temporarily stored for an autopsy to determine the circumstances.

The case has been classified as requiring a content warning for individuals aged 18 and above, adhering to Taiwan's content rating regulations.
