Ferran Torres opts for PSG, Barcelona awaits transfer offer

Ferran Torres has chosen Paris Saint-Germain as his next club, signaling a potential summer transfer away from Barcelona. The French champions, managed by Luis Enrique, have reportedly secured the attacker's agreement.

Barcelona, aware of the player's firm desire to move, is now awaiting an official offer from PSG. Torres, who scored the goal that secured Spain's World Cup title this summer, was under contract with Barcelona until June 30, 2027. His acceptance of PSG's proposal comes as Luis Enrique, who previously coached him for the national team, leads the French club.

While the clubs negotiate the transfer fee, all parties aim for a swift resolution, especially with Barcelona's preseason training set to begin soon. Torres, who is 26 years old, had previously expressed uncertainty about his future, stating in an interview that Barcelona needed to "demonstrate that they want me" for him to stay.

Despite being a significant contributor with 65 goals and 23 assists in 207 official appearances for Barcelona since his 2021-22 arrival from Manchester City, Torres has not established himself as an undisputed starter. His role as an important but not fixed player was expected to continue.

PSG's pursuit of Torres is bolstered by Luis Enrique's strong endorsement. The French club is looking to strengthen its attack following the sales of Gonçalo Ramos and Randal Kolo Muani, and the potential departure of Bradley Barcola. In Paris, Torres would compete for a spot with the established attacking trio.
