Ferrari leads the pack in Hungary's second free practice session

Lewis Hamilton, driving for Ferrari, topped the timesheets in Friday's second free practice session for the Hungarian Grand Prix, the eleventh round of the Formula One World Championship. The seven-time world champion completed the 4.381-kilometer Hungaroring circuit near Budapest in one minute, 18.729 seconds.

Hamilton's teammate, Charles Leclerc, finished the session second, 0.148 seconds behind, while Lando Norris of McLaren, last year's winner at the track, was third, 0.499 seconds adrift. The session saw participation from various drivers, including Carlos Sainz (Williams) and Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin), who recorded the seventeenth and nineteenth fastest times, respectively, both on soft tires.

Andrea Kimi Antonelli, the current World Championship leader driving for Mercedes, who did not participate in the first session, placed thirteenth. He was 1.964 seconds off Hamilton's pace on medium compound tires. Sergio Pérez (Cadillac) finished twentieth, more than three seconds behind Hamilton on soft tires.

Argentine driver Franco Colapinto, driving for Alpine, caused a brief interruption with a red flag during the session. He lost control of his car in the final corner, damaging the rear of the vehicle. Fortunately, no major injuries were reported. Colapinto, who also did not participate in the morning session, recorded the twenty-first fastest time on medium tires.
