FG renews push for climate resilience project

The Nigerian Federal Government, through the Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation, is demonstrating a renewed vigor in its commitment to the Agro-Climate Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) project. Minister Joseph Utsev's participation in the mid-term review meeting underscores the administration's focus on bolstering climate resilience across the nation, particularly in the face of escalating threats like desertification, flooding, and water scarcity.

Through the River Basin Development Authorities and Hydrological Services, the ministry will continue to play a key role in watershed management, flood forecasting, early warning systems, and sustainable water infrastructure.

The ACReSAL project, a significant collaboration with the World Bank, is positioned as a critical strategy for safeguarding livelihoods in Nigeria's vulnerable semi-arid regions. The emphasis on watershed management, flood forecasting, and sustainable water infrastructure highlights a proactive approach to environmental challenges that disproportionately affect these areas.
