FH Secures Strong 2-0 Away Win in First European Match

Icelandic club FH has put themselves in a commanding position in their Women's Champions League tie against Cypriot champions Apollon, securing a vital 2-0 away win in the first leg. The match, played in Paphos, Cyprus, marked FH's debut in European competition, and they delivered a performance that belied their inexperience on the continental stage.

Helena Errington opened the scoring for FH in the 37th minute, capitalizing on a well-placed pass inside the box. The assist came from Ingibjörg Magnúsdóttir, who made a strong run towards the Apollon penalty area before finding Errington. The lead was doubled just six minutes later by captain Andrea Rán Snæfeld Hauksdóttir. She expertly struck a free-kick from over 30 meters out, the ball hitting the post and finding the back of the net for a spectacular 2-0 advantage.

While Apollon started the second half with renewed intensity, FH managed to control the game and stifle the home team's efforts. The Icelandic side even appeared more likely to extend their lead as the match drew to a close.
