The Toyota Yaris Cross and Fiat Pulse are currently leading the compact SUV market in Argentina, demonstrating resilience despite a broader downturn in the automotive sector. From January to May, the Yaris Cross recorded 3,385 registrations, while the Fiat Pulse followed with 2,043 units sold, according to the Association of Automotive Dealerships of the Argentine Republic (Acara).

This segment of compact sport utility vehicles is proving particularly robust, maintaining consistent sales volumes and even showing growth compared to previous periods. This trend highlights consumer demand for this vehicle type, even as overall market conditions remain challenging.

In terms of dimensions, the Toyota Yaris Cross measures 4,310 mm in length, 1,770 mm in width, and 1,655 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,620 mm. The Fiat Pulse is slightly smaller, measuring 4,095 mm long, 1,777 mm wide, and 1,560 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2,532 mm. The Yaris Cross is notably longer and taller, while the Pulse is marginally wider.

Powertrain options also differentiate the two models. The Fiat Pulse is available with a 1.3-liter naturally aspirated engine producing 99 horsepower, or a 1.0-liter turbo engine delivering 120 horsepower and 200 Nm of torque. The Toyota Yaris Cross offers a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with 106 horsepower, alongside two hybrid variants (HEV) that combine the gasoline engine with an electric motor for a total output of 111 horsepower.

Inside, both vehicles offer modern amenities. The Fiat Pulse features a 10.1-inch multimedia touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 3.5-inch digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, and a rearview camera. Higher trims add a 7-inch digital display, keyless entry, wireless charging, and leather upholstery. The Toyota Yaris Cross entry-level model includes a 10-inch touchscreen with wireless smartphone integration, a 4.2-inch information display, and electronic parking brake.
