Fibra marks its 20th anniversary by bringing back 20 iconic sold-out comics

Fibra is celebrating its 20th birthday by bringing 20 long-sold-out comics back into print, giving them a larger format and an elaborate new presentation under the name Orkestar.

The Croatian publishing house began as Marko Šunjić’s hobby and grew into a major regional comics publisher. Over two decades, it has released 1,178 comics and 272,000 pages, building a catalog that Šunjić described as an achievement that feels almost unreal.

“Time really flies,” Šunjić wrote, recalling the paperwork, bureaucracy, excitement and uncertainty surrounding Fibra’s founding in the summer of 2006. He thanked the contributors who brought their knowledge, effort and creativity to the editions, as well as the readers who supported the company over the years.

Time really flies. I vividly remember the summer of 2006 and all the complications surrounding Fibra’s founding, all that tedious paperwork and bureaucracy, but also the tremendous excitement, drive and enthusiasm, as if it were yesterday.

The anniversary collection will feature expanded editions printed on Munken matte paper and gathered in a newly designed library. Comics creator Darko Macan gave the collection its name, while Melina Mikulić designed its visual presentation.

Šunjić said he was highly satisfied with the result and compared the collection to a touring orchestra. Fibra is offering a 20% celebratory discount during September and has left open the possibility of adding more titles to future editions.
