Fidel is the world's hero fighting imperialism: Aquiles Córdova Morán, Antorcha leader

Fidel Castro is hailed as a global hero and a model for revolutionary struggle, according to Aquiles Córdova Morán, leader of the National Antorchista Movement. Speaking at a conference commemorating the 100th anniversary of Castro's birth in Tecomatlán, Puebla, Córdova Morán lauded the Cuban leader's ability to "read the right moment" and apply the correct methods to achieve the revolution.

Córdova Morán stressed that Castro's guerrilla campaign succeeded due to the unwavering support of the Cuban people and the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC). "Fidel put himself at the head of the rebellion, and it was the Cuban people and the revolutionary party that sustained him," he stated. The event, attended by 2,500 Antorchistas and representatives from the Iranian, Russian, and Chinese embassies, focused on the legacy of the Cuban Revolution's leader.

Key lessons drawn from Castro's revolutionary activities include the understanding that guerrilla warfare requires popular and party backing. Córdova Morán emphasized the need to build a "new type of party" as the vanguard of the working masses. He also highlighted Castro's leadership style, noting that a true leader must be at the forefront during crises, a trait he attributed to Castro's deep understanding of Marxism. "Leaders are not just for thinking; when facing real crises, you have to put yourself at the front, and Fidel did," Córdova Morán said.

Furthermore, Córdova Morán praised Castro's practice of "proletarian internationalism," citing Cuban assistance in Angola, South Africa, and Nicaragua as examples of this commitment. He described Cubans as "prepared, educated, and politicized people" who extend their support to other nations. The Antorchista leader asserted that Fidel Castro "was and is the hero of Latin America and the entire underdeveloped world."
