FIFA halftime show 2026: World Cup final to feature Dudamel and Venezuelan orchestra for education fund

The 2026 FIFA World Cup final on July 19 will mark a historic moment with the introduction of the first-ever halftime show. The spectacle is slated to commence around 3:45 PM ET, though the exact timing may shift based on first-half stoppage time.

Venezuelan conductor Gustavo Dudamel is set to play a prominent role, leading a combined ensemble of musicians from the New York Philharmonic and the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela. Dudamel, who will become artistic director of the New York Philharmonic in September, will also perform alongside artists such as Burna Boy and the PS22 choir, under the curation of Coldplay's Chris Martin.

Dudamel expressed his honor in joining the performance, highlighting the collaborative nature of the show. The event's primary objective is to raise awareness and funds for the FIFA Global Education Fund. This initiative aims to generate $100 million to improve access to quality education and football opportunities for children in vulnerable communities worldwide.

The halftime show is part of FIFA's broader "United for Education" campaign, leveraging the World Cup platform to advocate for better educational outcomes and create opportunities in underserved regions. Global Citizen is partnering with FIFA on this effort, encouraging donations to "unlock the power of education and football."

In addition to Dudamel's performance, the halftime show is expected to feature appearances by major international artists including Madonna, Shakira, and BTS. Chris Martin of Coldplay is coordinating the show, which will also include a special appearance by actor Tom Cruise, along with Post Malone, Robbie Williams, Nicole Scherzinger, Laura Pausini, and streamer IShowSpeed.
