FIFA World Cup 2026 stars 'reincarnated' heat up Jerantut school football

Young footballers in Jerantut, Pahang, recently competed in a tournament that brought a touch of international flair to the local pitches. The event, held at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Jerantut and SK Jerantut Jaya, saw four primary school teams battle it out, representing different zones.

The competition gained significant attention and enthusiasm from teachers and parents as children took to the field embodying world-renowned stars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Mohamed Salah, Erling Haaland, and Harry Kane. These young players showcased agile ball control, teamwork, and skillful play, mimicking their idols to score goals, much to the delight of the cheering crowd.

After two days of intense matches, SK Jerantut emerged victorious, defeating SK Jerantut Jaya 2-0 in a closely contested final. Earlier, SK Jerantut had secured their place in the final with narrow 1-0 wins against SK Kuala Tahan and SK Bandar in the semi-final and quarter-final rounds, respectively.

Ros Adam Fahmi, a Year 6 student from SK Jerantut who plays as a right winger, was named the best under-12 player of the tournament. He has also been selected to join the district's main squad for the upcoming Pahang School Sports Council (MSSP) competition. Muhammad Faiz Mahayudin, the headmaster of SK Jerantut, noted that Ros Adam scored both goals in the final. He added that Ros Adam and six other players from the school have been called up for the MSSP Pahang state team selection. "This proves the quality and potential of our school's players, resulting from early preparation and intensive, systematic, consistent, and continuous training since last year," Mahayudin stated.
