Fiji boosts peacekeeping ties with Indonesia through multinational exercise

Fiji has deepened its defense ties with Indonesia through active participation in the multinational Exercise Garuda Canti Dharma III 2026, a peacekeeping training event held in Bogor, Indonesia. This collaborative effort signifies a strengthening of the defense partnership between the two nations.

The exercise brought together more than 700 military personnel from 22 different countries. Its primary objectives were to enhance leadership capabilities, improve interoperability among diverse forces, and boost operational readiness for future United Nations peacekeeping missions. Training activities included both planning phases and practical field exercises.

Fiji's contingent consisted of 14 Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) personnel. During the event, Fiji's Ambassador to Indonesia, Ratu Isoa Delamisi Tikoca, attended the Senior Military Leaders Discussion Forum and the closing ceremony. His presence highlighted the growing cooperation in military training, professional exchanges, and capacity-building for peacekeeping operations.

The Fiji Embassy in Jakarta emphasized that the exercise reinforces the shared commitment of both Fiji and Indonesia to international peacekeeping efforts. It also serves to strengthen their bilateral cooperation in military training and professional development.

The embassy extended congratulations to the 14 RFMF personnel for their distinguished representation of Fiji and expressed gratitude to the Indonesian government and military for their ongoing partnership and hospitality.
