Fiji men’s 7s finishes fourth in Spain

The Fiji Airways Men's National 7s team secured a fourth-place finish at the Valladolid 7s in Spain, concluding their tournament run with a 17-28 loss to Argentina in the third-place playoff.

Despite scoring tries through Apete Narogo, Jeremaia Matana, and Isaia Rugu, Fiji could not overcome a strong Argentine performance, highlighted by a brace from speedster Marcos Monetta. Argentina led 21-12 at halftime, ultimately securing the bronze medal.

Earlier in the day, Fiji fell 21-14 to Australia in a closely contested cup semifinal. Australia's clinical attack and ball retention proved decisive, with Captain Henry Hutchinson scoring twice and James Turner adding another try. Fiji's points came from Kavekini Tanivanuakula and George Bose.

Australia went on to claim the men's title, defeating South Africa 26-19 in the final. The celebration was doubled for the Aussies as their women's team also triumphed, beating the USA 27-14 to win the women's championship. Meanwhile, the Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s team finished seventh overall after a 14-5 victory against hosts Spain.
