Filgua 2026 agenda: Workshops, talks, 'Night of Terror,' and concerts on July 10

The International Book Fair in Guatemala (Filgua) enters its fourth day on July 10, transforming the Fórum Majadas in Guatemala City into a hub for literature, culture, music, and history. This year's XXIII edition promises a rich program, with Germany as the honored guest country, offering visitors a diverse range of experiences.

The fair boasts 150 stands where attendees can discover and purchase a wide array of educational and children's books, popular sagas, and new publications. Beyond book sales, Filgua provides engaging activities including talks, forums, book presentations, workshops, children's events, concerts, and even film screenings organized by the German Embassy.

Friday's agenda is particularly vibrant. It includes the highly anticipated "Night of Terror," a concert by the German singer Charlotte Brandi, and a performance by the Atitlán Cumbia Band. Additionally, a forum will commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Peace Accords, offering a space for reflection on Guatemala's history. The day also features a broadcast of a quarter-final football match, adding a sporting element to the cultural festivities.

Throughout the day, various sessions cater to different interests. Highlights include discussions on artificial intelligence and authorship, strengthening reading in secondary education, the art of comic illustration, and the digitalization of libraries. Children's activities, such as "The Mystery of the Hummingbird," and explorations of the Popol Vuh are also scheduled, ensuring a comprehensive cultural experience for all attendees.
