A Filipino woman visiting Tainan, Taiwan, has lauded the city's police for their exceptional service after losing her wallet. The woman, identified only as Ms. Ou, shared her experience on social media, highlighting the officers' kindness and efficiency in assisting her despite a language barrier.

Ms. Ou reported losing her wallet on the morning of July 18th while traveling by bus. She immediately went to the Beimen police station of the Tainan City Police Department's Fifth Precinct to file a report. Due to her limited understanding of Mandarin Chinese, communication with the desk officer was initially challenging.

To overcome this obstacle, the police officer utilized a translation app on his mobile phone, enabling a clear dialogue with Ms. Ou. Through patient guidance and technological assistance, she was able to provide detailed descriptions of her wallet and the route she took when she believes she lost it. The police have stated they will actively investigate the matter.

In her social media post, Ms. Ou expressed her gratitude, stating that Taiwanese police are "good people." She described her first visit to a police station in Tainan as a positive experience, noting the friendly and helpful demeanor of the officers, which she found vastly different from the "arrogant" and "overbearing" attitudes she has encountered from some police officers in the Philippines. She specifically mentioned that the officers did not dismiss her case due to jurisdiction issues, even though the loss likely occurred between the Southern Science Park and Qiaotou area, and proceeded to handle the report at their station.
