Finnish Focus on Day Two of European Championships: Uusimäki and Heltelä Compete

The second day of the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham will feature significant Finnish participation, with Hilla Uusimäki and Wilma Heltelä leading the charge. The championships are being closely followed by HS.

Uusimäki is set to compete in the 400m hurdles semifinals, scheduled to begin at 12:45 PM. With a realistic chance for a final spot, she currently ranks sixth in the European standings. Her performance is highly anticipated following her recent national record.

Heltelä will commence her competition in the pole vault qualifying round later in the evening, at 9:05 PM. Her season's best jump of 4.81 meters places her second in the European rankings, making her a strong contender.

In total, 18 Finnish athletes are scheduled to compete on Tuesday across various disciplines, including high jump, discus, 100m, 110m hurdles, 800m, and 400m hurdles.

The schedule for the morning session includes Daniel Kosonen in the men's high jump qualifying, Mico Lampinen in the men's discus qualifying group A, and Heidi Salminen in the first heat of the women's 400m hurdles.
