Finnish War Dead Are Now in the Hands of Putinists in Russia

The remains of Finnish soldiers killed in the Winter War and Continuation War are waiting to be returned to Finland in the attic of the Lutheran church in Vyborg.

The remains are kept in green plastic bags inside wooden boxes, among dusty church items and building materials in the dark, dry attic of St. Peter and St. Paul’s Church.

A Kremlin propaganda campaign has made the search for the war dead more difficult. Most of the Russian searchers involved now support Russia’s war of aggression.
