Fintiri hails Adamawa ALGON chairman-elect

Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has extended congratulations to the newly elected executive members of the Adamawa State chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON). The election of these new leaders followed the recent local government elections, which saw the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secure victories across all 21 local government areas and 226 wards in the state.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, Governor Fintiri urged the new ALGON leadership to exercise purposeful leadership and justify the confidence placed in them by their colleagues. Dr. Titus Obadiah, the Chairman of Mayo-Belwa Local Government Area, was elected as the chapter's chairman. Yusuf Mohammed, Chairman of Madagali Local Government Area, will serve as vice chairman, and Ibrahim Jibrin, Chairman of Yola North Local Government Area, was elected as secretary.

Governor Fintiri described the election as "well-deserved," reflecting the trust and respect the new executives command among their fellow council chairmen. He noted that their assumption of office comes at a critical juncture, requiring visionary leadership, experience, and commitment to enhance grassroots governance and accelerate development across the state's 21 local government areas.

The governor implored the new executives to remain united, provide effective leadership, and prioritize the welfare of the citizens. "I congratulate you on this well-deserved victory. The confidence your colleagues have placed in you is a call to greater service. Do not betray that trust. Uphold the values of accountability, transparency, teamwork and selfless service as you work together to advance grassroots development across our state," he stated.

Governor Fintiri reaffirmed his administration's dedication to strengthening local government administration and fostering partnerships with council leadership to deliver meaningful development to communities throughout Adamawa State. Notably, Adamawa is the first state in Nigeria where the PDP defeated the ruling APC in a state-conducted local government election.
