Fintiri wins APC Adamawa North senatorial primary unopposed

Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has secured the All Progressives Congress (APC) nomination for the Adamawa North senatorial district, running unopposed in the party's primaries. This development positions the incumbent governor to transition to the Senate, following the decision of the current senator, Amos Yohanna, not to seek a second term.

Meanwhile, the APC's senatorial race in the South also saw a clear outcome, with the Commissioner for Health, Felix Tangwami, emerging as the winner. Tangwami successfully unseated strong contenders, including former Senator Grace Bent and retired Federal Permanent Secretary Ismaila Numan, demonstrating his significant support within the party structure.

The electoral materials did not arrive on time in some parts of the senatorial zone, so we felt it was not proper to conduct elections in some of the local government areas and leave others out of the contest. A date will soon be fixed for the primaries in the Central Senatorial Zone.

However, the electoral process was not without its disruptions. The APC senatorial primaries in the Adamawa Central zone have been suspended. According to the party's state spokesman, Victor Dogo, the suspension was necessitated by the late arrival of electoral materials in several local government areas. This decision was made to ensure fairness and prevent a situation where elections would be conducted in only parts of the senatorial district. The party plans to reschedule the primaries for the Central zone soon, aiming to provide all aspirants with an equal opportunity to campaign and participate.
