Fire at Kaunas juvenile detention center, officer affected

A fire erupted at the Kaunas Juvenile Remand Center in Lithuania, prompting the evacuation of 11 inmates to the courtyard. The incident, reported at 6:59 PM, saw the facility's rooms filled with smoke.

Before firefighters arrived on the scene, staff at the detention center began efforts to extinguish the blaze. Upon the arrival of the fire brigade, they used a powder extinguisher to put out the fire and subsequently ventilated the premises.

During the incident, a television set in the affected area was scorched and melted, and a mattress was burned. One of the duty officers on duty experienced smoke inhalation, leading to discomfort. Medical personnel attended to the officer, who was then able to continue their service.
