Fire at Konya mattress factory injures one firefighter

A fire erupted at a mattress factory in the Fevzi Çakmak neighborhood of Karatay district in Konya, Turkey, on Monday afternoon. The blaze began around 4:30 PM, quickly engulfing the facility located within the Mobilyacılar Sanayi Sitesi industrial area.

Upon receiving reports of the fire, a significant emergency response was mobilized. Multiple fire crews, along with water cannons (TOMA), police, and medical teams, were dispatched to the scene. Firefighters immediately began working to control the flames, while factory workers attempted to evacuate materials to prevent the fire from spreading further.

During the firefighting efforts, one firefighter sustained injuries after becoming trapped amidst the flames. Colleagues rescued the injured firefighter, who was then transported by ambulance to Konya City Hospital for treatment. The fire was eventually brought under control and extinguished by the responding teams. An investigation has been launched into the cause of the fire, with preliminary speculation suggesting it may have originated from a compressor machine.
