Fire at plastic factory in Donghae City; one person trapped inside

A fire erupted at a plastic manufacturing plant in Donghae City, Gangwon Province, early Tuesday morning, prompting a large-scale firefighting response. The blaze, which began around 3:48 a.m., was completely extinguished after approximately four hours and 30 minutes. While seven individuals managed to evacuate the facility safely, one person, identified as a woman in her 60s, is presumed to be trapped inside. Rescue operations are currently focused on locating and extracting her. Her husband, a man in his 70s, evacuated the premises on his own. Fire authorities declared a Level 1 response, deploying all available personnel from the local fire station shortly after the fire began. The main flames were controlled by around 6:47 a.m. The response level was downgraded, and the remaining embers were extinguished by 8:18 a.m. Donghae City issued a disaster safety alert urging residents to avoid the area due to heavy smoke. Police and fire officials are investigating the exact cause of the fire and the extent of the damage.
