Fire Contained at Garment Factory Warehouse in Adamjee EPZ

A fire erupted at a fabric warehouse belonging to Ananta Apparels, located within the Adamjee Export Processing Zone (EPZ) in Siddhirganj. The blaze began around 4:15 a.m. today, according to Miron Mia, senior station officer at the Adamjee Fire Station.

Nine units from the Fire Service and Civil Defence were deployed to combat the fire. They worked for about three hours to bring the situation under control. As of 10:00 a.m., dumping operations were still in progress, Miron Mia reported.

Local residents and factory workers indicated that the warehouse was closed when the fire started. The rapid spread of the flames was attributed to the large quantities of fabric and some chemical substances stored within the facility. A unit from the Adamjee EPZ Fire Service was the first on the scene, with reinforcements arriving from nearby stations as the fire intensified.

While small pockets of fire were still being extinguished in some areas, Miron Mia stated that there was no longer any risk of the fire spreading further. An investigation will be conducted to determine the exact cause of the fire and the total extent of the damage.
