Fire damages 100 hectares in Tekirdağ, Turkey

A fire broke out in a bushy area between Tepe Emlak Konutları and Kocameşe Picnic Area in Tekirdağ, Turkey, around 1:00 PM. Fueled by strong winds, the flames quickly spread across a large area, engulfing trees and vegetation.

As the fire approached residential areas, residents experienced panic, prompting the dispatch of numerous firefighting units. Reinforcements from neighboring districts were sent to Çerkezköy to assist in the containment efforts. Teams from the Çerkezköy Municipality's Directorate of Public Works also provided support with excavators, graders, and water tankers.

Local citizens joined the firefighting efforts, contributing with their tractors and shovels. After approximately two hours of intervention, the fire was brought under control. Cooling operations continued in the affected region. Initial assessments indicate that around 100 hectares of wooded and grassland were damaged. An investigation into the cause of the fire has been launched.
