Fire Engulfs Hsinchu Chemical Plant, Thick Smoke Fills Sky as Firefighters Battle Blaze

A fire erupted at the Huli Precision Chemical plant in the Hsinchu Industrial Park on Saturday morning, prompting a large-scale response from emergency services. Thick black smoke billowed into the sky from the three-story facility, visible from afar as firefighters rushed to the scene.

The Hsinchu County Fire Bureau received the alarm around 11:21 a.m. and dispatched multiple units, totaling 17 vehicles and 34 personnel, to combat the blaze. Upon arrival, firefighters found significant flames and dense smoke emanating from the third floor of the building. They immediately deployed water lines to attack the fire and established a perimeter to prevent it from spreading to adjacent structures.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Huli Precision Chemical, established in 1988, is part of the Lide Technology Group and is a major Taiwanese manufacturer of specialty silicone chemicals. The company focuses on the research, development, production, and sales of silicone-based specialty chemicals.

Authorities have advised residents in nearby areas to close their windows and doors and to shut off air conditioning systems to prevent smoke and potential odors from entering their homes. Those experiencing respiratory discomfort are urged to leave the area and seek medical attention. Motorists are also asked to avoid the vicinity of the fire to allow emergency crews unobstructed access.
