Taiwan Launches Kumamoto Disaster Relief Project, Pledges Solidarity with Japan

Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has launched a special disaster relief project for Kumamoto, Japan, after a powerful earthquake struck the region on July 28, causing casualties and widespread damage.

Under the directive of President Lai Ching-te, the ministry announced the "0728 Japan Kumamoto Disaster Relief Project." Public donations will be accepted starting August 1 to support rescue operations and post-disaster reconstruction in the affected areas, which continue to face aftershocks.

The ministry provided donation details, including an account for the International Cooperation and Development Fund at Mega Bank. Other donation channels, such as credit card and virtual account transfers, will be available through the ICDF donation portal starting August 1. A 1988 hotline will also offer donation consultation services daily from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, beginning August 1.
