First Lady empowers 1,000 petty traders in Ile-Ife with N50 million

Nigeria's First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has launched an economic empowerment program in Ile-Ife, Osun state, disbursing N50 million to 1,000 petty traders. Each recipient received N50,000 to bolster their businesses, a move aimed at enhancing their economic well-being and that of their families.

The intervention was designed to improve their economic well-being and family welfare.

The initiative, part of the Renewed Hope Initiative, was represented by Alhaja Kudirat Fakokunde, the APC Women Leader in Osun. She urged beneficiaries to utilize the funds wisely for business growth.

Several prominent figures, including Dr. Sekinat Oyebamiji, wife of the APC governorship candidate in Osun, and Mrs. Kafayat Oyetola, wife of the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, also encouraged the traders to invest productively. They also used the opportunity to appeal for support for the APC governorship candidate and President Bola Tinubu in future elections.

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, lauded the First Lady's efforts, describing the program as timely and crucial for improving livelihoods. He emphasized that genuine empowerment should target the needy and urged recipients to use the funds productively to strengthen their businesses, ensuring all verified beneficiaries would receive the grant.
