First Lady inaugurates housing, healthcare projects in Ogun

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu officially inaugurated the Muhammadu Buhari Estate and the Gateway Medical Center of Excellence in Abeokuta, Ogun State. The Muhammadu Buhari Estate comprises 108 housing units and is situated along the Oke-Mosan-Kobape Express Road. The commissioning ceremony was attended by government officials and stakeholders from the housing sector.

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State expressed his gratitude to the First Lady for attending the event. He emphasized the importance of tackling the state's housing deficit by providing decent accommodation to enhance living conditions. Abiodun assured that his administration remains committed to building affordable housing units for citizens until the end of its term. He stated that development should be measured by its positive impact on people's lives.

The governor highlighted the estate's commissioning as a demonstration of his administration's dedication to providing affordable housing. He also noted investments in healthcare, aimed at strengthening primary healthcare centers across the state. The Gateway Medical Center of Excellence, he said, represents a significant step toward delivering quality healthcare and reducing medical tourism, stressing that healthcare should be accessible to all citizens.

Commissioner for Housing, Jagunmolu Akande Omoniyi, thanked the First Lady for her support in completing the housing project's first phase. He stated that the housing units demonstrate the government's commitment to providing decent homes for various income levels and bridging the housing gap. The Ministry of Housing will continue to support initiatives that increase the availability of decent homes and promote sustainable housing development.

Earlier, Mrs. Tinubu launched the National Community Food Bank Programme for the South-West region. This initiative aims to support vulnerable households and aligns with President Bola Tinubu's national agenda.
