First specialised spinal surgery performed at Suwaiq Hospital

A specialized medical team from Khoula Hospital, in collaboration with Suwaiq Hospital staff, has successfully completed a complex and urgent spinal surgery. The operation was performed on a patient who sustained critical injuries after being struck by a vehicle.

The patient arrived at Suwaiq Hospital's emergency department with multiple fractures in the thoracic and lumbar vertebrae, alongside severe nerve compression. Diagnostic scans, including CT and MRI, revealed the extent of the damage, which had resulted in loss of movement in the patient's lower limbs.

The three-hour surgery focused on widening the spinal canal and stabilizing the fractured vertebrae using medical screws.
