Five Apprehended in Disappearance Case of University Student in Veraguas

Authorities in Veraguas, Panama, have apprehended five individuals, three of whom are minors, in connection with the disappearance of 23-year-old Jafeth González Urriola. Urriola vanished on the night of August 11 while working as a digital ride-share driver.

The Fiscalía de Homicidio y Femicidio (Homicide and Femicide Prosecutor's Office) for the province, in collaboration with police and investigative units, conducted several operations that led to the arrests. These efforts aimed to reconstruct Urriola's last known movements and determine the circumstances surrounding his disappearance.

Urriola's vehicle was found abandoned days after he went missing, but his whereabouts remain unknown. Since the initial report, specialized teams from the prosecutor's office have been actively investigating various locations within the province.

The five apprehended individuals are scheduled to appear before a judge of guarantees. During the proceedings, the legality of their arrests will be confirmed, charges will be formally presented, and precautionary measures will be requested. The Public Ministry has not yet disclosed specific details regarding the suspects' alleged involvement or Urriola's current location as the investigation continues.
