Five Fined for Trespassing Restricted Beach During Typhoon in Taiwan

Five tourists have been cited for illegally entering a restricted area at the mysterious beach in Nan'ao Township, Yilan County, during Typhoon Bailu. The group attempted to access a sea cave on Saturday morning, despite the area being officially designated as a control zone due to the typhoon. Coast Guard personnel on patrol encountered the individuals and advised them to leave, citing the unstable sea conditions and the official restrictions. After confirming their identities, the tourists were issued violation notices for contravening disaster prevention laws. The case has been forwarded to the Yilan County Government for further processing. If found guilty, the individuals could face fines between NT$50,000 and NT$250,000. The Coast Guard Administration's First Patrol Brigade urged the public to stay informed about typhoon warnings and local government advisories, emphasizing the dangers of entering restricted zones for activities like sightseeing, swimming, or fishing during such weather events.
