Five injured after wooden house collapses during renovation in Turkey

A two-story wooden house in Kastamonu's Kirazcık village collapsed while undergoing renovations, injuring five people. The incident occurred at the home of Hüseyin Tellioğlu in Oruçlu Mahallesi.

Ünzile, Bilal, and Şinasi Tellioğlu, along with Gülşen Özsoy and Şerife Köse, were trapped in the debris but were rescued with the help of villagers. A fire that erupted following the collapse was also put out by residents.

Emergency services, including health, fire, gendarmerie, and AFAD teams, were dispatched to the scene. The five injured individuals received initial medical attention and were transported to Taşköprü State Hospital. Their conditions are reported to be stable.

Ertuğrul Köse, the son-in-law of the homeowner, described the terrifying moments, stating, "We heard a sound and the house collapsed." He explained that renovations were being done on the ceiling to prevent dust from falling. Köse added that a fire started because the stove was on for tea. "We pulled out those inside from where they were trapped. We extinguished the fire with water from hoses. Thank God there were no fatalities or very serious injuries."

Köse also mentioned that the house, approximately 70 years old, had a lower floor that had been used as a barn and had been unused for a long time.
