Five killed after Amazon cargo plane crashes at Miami airport

At least five people were killed and five others injured when an Amazon cargo plane ran off the runway while landing at Miami International Airport, struck several vehicles and caught fire, authorities said.

The Boeing 767, operating as Prime Air Flight 7598, arrived from Puerto Rico at around 2 p.m. local time, or 1800 GMT. Video showed dense smoke rising from the aircraft as fire trucks rushed to the scene.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said the plane had overshot a runway and hit several vehicles near the airport. More than 60 firefighters responded. The airport said all runways and taxiways were closed while emergency crews worked to extinguish the fire and assess patients.
