Patrol vehicle crashes in Kuna Nega, injuring five including 12-year-old boy

Five people were injured when a National Police patrol vehicle lost control and fell into a ravine near a stream in the La 400 sector of Kuna Nega, on the road toward La Paz.

The injured included three police officers traveling in the vehicle, as well as a woman and her 12-year-old son, who were standing beside the road when the patrol vehicle crashed. The boy was taken urgently to Hospital del Niño, where he remained under observation after receiving three stitches to his head and undergoing cranial examinations. His mother was discharged that night.

Residents said the crash occurred beside a sinkhole caused by soil erosion. They said they had previously reported the road condition to authorities and expressed concern about daily risks for pedestrians and students, particularly because the area lacks sidewalks and vehicles travel at high speeds.

Authorities were investigating whether the deteriorated road contributed to the driver's loss of control. The National Police did not comment when asked about the injured officers' condition or the official account of the incident.
