Five missing, eight injured after restaurant fire in Switzerland

A devastating fire ripped through a restaurant and apartment building in Thusis, Switzerland, overnight, leaving five individuals unaccounted for and eight others injured. Emergency services received the distress call shortly after midnight, prompting a large-scale response involving nearly 100 firefighters.

Fourteen people successfully evacuated the structure as flames engulfed the building. Among those who escaped, eight sustained injuries, including two serious, two moderate, and four minor cases. These individuals are currently receiving medical attention at nearby hospitals. The extent of the missing persons' involvement in the fire remains unclear as authorities continue their search and investigation.

Firefighters worked through the night to contain the blaze, which is believed to have originated on the second floor. Due to the collapse of the internal staircase, rescue teams had to breach the roof using a crane to gain access. The building has been declared a total loss, completely destroyed by the fire.
