Five summer 2026 anime series will reach their finales in September

September will bring farewells for several anime from the 2026 summer season. Some will close only a broadcast season, while others are approaching the end of their entire stories.

Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War is among the most anticipated finales. More than two decades after the Bleach anime first premiered, the final part of the Thousand-Year Blood War arc is nearing its conclusion. Its last episode is scheduled for September 26, formally closing a 22-year anime run. The adaptation has also drawn praise for adding and expanding material from the manga.

Black Torch has attracted attention during the summer with its familiar shonen style and energetic central character. The original manga ran for only 19 chapters, and the anime has adapted roughly 14. That puts the series close to the end of both its broadcast and its story.

Daemons of the Shadow Realm has had a longer run than the roughly 12-episode summer anime format. It continued from the spring season into summer 2026, drawing interest for its dark fantasy setting, humor and unexpected turns. Viewers often compare it with Fullmetal Alchemist because both works come from author Hiromu Arakawa.

Smoking Behind the Supermarket With You takes a quieter approach, following an office worker in his 40s and chance encounters behind a supermarket. The adult-oriented series has focused on everyday life and relationships rather than battles or fantasy. After a special 12-episode spring broadcast, its remaining episodes are expected to finish by the end of September. Tomb Raider King has also drawn attention since its debut because of similarities viewers have noted with Solo Leveling.
