Dong Thap’s Historic Sites Draw Crowds During National Day Holiday

Nearly 170,000 tourists visited Dong Thap during this year’s five-day National Day holiday, as historic sites and museums became popular destinations for young people and families.

The provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said visitor numbers rose 57% from the same period in 2025. International arrivals exceeded 13,000, and tourism revenue reached 64.5 billion Vietnamese dong.

Visitors spread across attractions including Xeo Quyt, Go Thap, the Nguyen Sinh Sac historical site, Dong Thap Museum, Lien Hoa Pagoda, Dong Tam Snake Farm and destinations in Sa Dec and Thoi Son. Localities organized activities connected with history, culture, ecology and regional identity.

Xeo Quyt remained a familiar destination during the Sept. 2 holiday. Visitors could learn about revolutionary history, travel by sampan through cajuput forest and take photographs. Exhibitions and displays at museums and historical sites also attracted young people interested in local history and culture.

The combination of historical value, scenic surroundings and photo opportunities is giving younger visitors a more approachable way to experience museums and heritage sites. Their visits and online posts are helping spread awareness of Dong Thap’s cultural and historical destinations.
